Caltrans Has Rock Climbers

Today, Caltrans rock climbers (or scalers) removed loose rocks and debris along the slopes of Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27) approximately two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway, inside of Topanga State Park. The rocks and debris had to be removed to help prevent rock slides and mudslides that occur during heavy rains.

Interestingly enough, all of the employees pictured have professional rock climbing certifications . The team of rock climbers for today’s project included a geologist, maintenance superintendent and maintenance supervisor, storm water coordinator, and a geotechnical engineer.
