Ramp Closures (and Openings!) -- San Fernando Valley I-5 Carpool Lane Project

With freeway construction comes closures -- lane closures, connector closures and ramp closures. Long-term ramp closures can be particularly challenging for motorists, especially if the ramp you use every day gets closed.

Recognizing the inconvenience that ramp closures cause, Caltrans aims to stagger ramp closures, which means that it’s rare that you’ll have to go more than one ramp out of your way. There are some exceptions, of course, particularly when ramps are very close together, as is the case with the I-5 carpool lane project between SR-118 and SR-170. But we do our best to minimize the inconvenience -- and to let you know which ramps will be closed so you can plan an alternate route.

There are a number of ways you can check on ramp closures for the carpool lane project:

   > Refer to the map above. (Larger view here.)

   > Check the planned closures page on the Caltrans website.

   > Sign up for automatic closure notices on the I-5 website or check out the closure lists posted there.

And you can always give us a call on the toll-free I-5 hotline (855.454.6335) and we’ll answer all your ramp-related queries, plus any other burning I-5 questions you may have. We’re here to help.
