I-5 Delays in Fresno County Aug. 20 - 23

If you’ll be driving I-5 in Fresno County next week, this post is for you. Beginning Monday, August 20, at 6 p.m., the northbound right lane at Tumey Gulch Bridge will be closed for 24 hours. Other intermittent lane closures at this location will occur through Thursday, August 23. You’ll be able to get by, but expect delays of up to two hours. Reason for the closures: crews will be replacing slabs, adjusting the grade, and striping.

For those of you heading north from Los Angeles, keep in mind that there's an I-5 lane reconstruction project in progress near Buttonwillow. There may be delays associated with this work as well, so you may want to consider an alternate route. Total possible delay time on northbound I-5 in Kern and Fresno counties is four hours. (More info here.)

CHP will provide extra traffic control, and there will be plenty of electronic signs to notify you about the closures. For the safety of motorists and our construction crews, please slow for the cone zone, be on the lookout for workers, merge when directed to do so, and please-please-please don't text and drive.
