Carmageddon II: It’s Almost Here!

The south side of the Mulholland Bridge was demolished in July 2011.
The 53-hour-closure of I-405 between I-10 and US 101 (aka Carmageddon II) is coming THIS WEEKEND! The gritty details: On Friday, Sept. 28, ramps will begin to be shut down as early as 7 p.m., and closure of lanes will begin at 10 p.m. The closure is scheduled to continue until 5 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 1. Ramps and connectors will be reopened by 6 a.m. During this closure, the Mulholland Bridge, I-405 and ramps will be closed.

The reason for the closure, of course, is the demolition of the north side of the Mulholland Bridge. The south side was demolished in July 2011. More info is here

Carmageddon I went really smoothly, mostly because Angelenos rose to the occasion and stayed off the freeway system. (Thanks for that!) We’re asking everyone to do the same thing again this year to avoid potentially horrendous congestion. So, for just one weekend, step away from the car and eat, shop and play locally. You can find great discounts here. And if you absolutely have to go somewhere, bike, walk or take transit. You might enjoy it so much, you’ll do it even when the freeway ISN’T closed.
