Mudslide Closes Westbound San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) Eastern Avenue Off-ramp

UPDATE:  One lane of the off-ramp is expected to open to traffic by 5 a.m., Monday, October 15.

LOS ANGELES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) closed the westbound San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) Eastern Avenue off-ramp at 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, when it was covered by a mudslide.  The slope along the off-ramp became saturated when a clogged storm drain at a nearby bus stop caused water to overflow.  After the ramp was inspected by Caltrans geologist, it was determined that the off-ramp will be closed indefinitely until the slope can be stabilized.

A contractor has been hired to clear the off-ramp and stabilize the slope.  Additional rainfall could further delay the opening of the ramp.
