Climb Aboard the New California State Rail Plan

While striving to continuously improve California's freeway and state highway system, Caltrans also is actively participating in what has been called a rail renaissance. As more and more people have recognized the benefits of using rail transportation, plans are underway to improve train service throughout the state and construct the nation's first dedicated high-speed train system.

The California State Rail Plan will establish a vision, set priorities and present implementation strategies for developing an integrated rail system, anticipated for 2018. As the plan takes shape, you can provide valuable input and have a role in determining what the future of transportation will look like.

Public meetings on the plan will be held beginning in early 2013 throughout the state. In the meantime, you can find out more on the project website Requests to join the project mailing list, questions and input also can be directed by email to, or sent to California State Rail Plan, Caltrans, Division of Rail, Office of Planning and Policy, 1120 N Street, MS 74, Sacramento, CA 95814.

So climb aboard and become part of the solution!
