If you use I-5 in the Frazier Park area — and especially if you LIVE in Frazier Park — this post is for you. The Frazier Mountain Park Road on-ramp to southbound I-5 is closed through May 4, 2013, while crews place new concrete pavement. Detour signs are posted, directing you to access southbound I-5 at the Gorman Road on-ramp.
The work is part of a project that’s replacing slabs in both directions of I-5 between the Vista Del Lago Road overcrossing and the Kern County Line, a distance of 15.4 miles.
This $100.1 million project, which will be completed in mid-2015, will extend the life of the pavement, reduce maintenance costs and closures, and provide a smoother ride for motorists. So hang in there. The ramp closure is inconvenient, but there WILL be a payoff.
Closure information for this and other freeway projects is available on the Caltrans website.
