Moving Lane Closures and Delays for Maintenance on Ventura Freeway (US 101)

Ok, let's cut to the chase, this moving closure could make things, let's say, a little, and maybe a lot slower than usual.  Be prepared and plan ahead.  Our maintenance crews will re-oil the paved shoulders along US 101 and the shoulders will look like new.

Here's the press release:

Sherman Oaks to Westlake Village – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will re-oil (fog seal or rejuvenate) and seal cracks on the paved shoulders of the Ventura Freeway (US 101) between Sepulveda Boulevard and Westlake Boulevard during the following days and times:

Sunday, June 23, 2013
4 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, June 24, to Wednesday, June 26
9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Motorists should expect delays and extended commute times, and should consider an alternative route.

This operation will utilize a moving closure that will require the far right and far left lanes to be temporarily blocked by Caltrans and California Highway Patrol vehicles to allow for the application of the oil onto the shoulders.

To prevent oil from sticking to vehicles, motorists are advised not to pull off onto the shoulders of US 101 during the days of this operation unless absolutely necessary.
