After the Tanker Fire: The View Inside the Tunnel

Currently, dozens of Caltrans staff are at the I-5/SR-2 interchange assessing the damage and beginning repair work after a tanker fire in a connector tunnel on Saturday, July 13. Northbound I-5 remains closed in the area — and after viewing the photos below, you can see why.

Every part of the tunnel was affected by the fire -- from roadbed to ceiling.
