Summer Slam on 60: First Round A Success!

Concrete Pour

This past week end (Friday, July 12 at 10 p.m. –  Monday, July 15 at 5 a.m) Summer Slam was a success.  Motorists avoided the area and locals stayed local.

Caltrans advises motorists to once again prepare for another round of  55-hour weekend lane closures on the Pomona Freeway (SR-60) between Fullerton Road and Nogales Street.

Motorists should expect to do the same thing for the following dates:

Friday, July 26 at 10 p.m. – Monday, July 29 at 5 a.m.
  • 2 lanes of westbound SR-60 to be closed
  • Northbound SR-57 to westbound SR-60 connector to closed
  • Steel channelizers help stablize the pavement.
  • Brea Canyon Road, Fairway Drive, Nogales Street and Fullerton Road on-ramps to be closed
  • Nogales Street and Fullerton Road off-ramps to be closed

Friday, August 9 at 10 p.m. – Monday, August 12 at 5 a.m.
  • 3 lanes of eastbound SR-60 to be closed
  •  Hacienda Boulevard, Azusa Avenue, Fullerton Road and south Nogales Street  on-ramps to be closed
  • Fullerton Road and Nogales Street off-ramps to be closed

Friday, August 23 at 10 p.m. – Monday, August 26 at 5 a.m.

    Roadway Finisher.
  • 2 lanes of eastbound SR-60 to be closed
  • Hacienda Boulevard, Azusa Avenue, Fullerton Road and south Nogales Street  on-ramps to be closed
  • Fullerton Road and Nogales Street off-ramps to be closed
Full freeway closure will be in effect in direction of weekend closure
Saturday 1 a.m. – Saturday 5 a.m. and Monday 1 a.m. – Monday 5 a.m.  for k-rail  installation and removal.

The new surface will provide a smoother, safer drive for motorists, reduce time required for maintenance and minimize the need for further lane closures. Work is expected to be completed in late 2014.
