It’s BAAAAACK! Summer Slam on 60 Returns this Weekend!

The paving machine in action during Summer Slam, Part II.

Summer Slam is indeed back. Once again, there will be 55-hour lane closures on eastbound SR-60 between Fullerton Road and Nogales Street this weekend while crews rehabilitate the pavement. (More info about the project is here.)

This is NOT a FULL freeway closure, but it’s pretty close, so expect delays if you choose to drive it. We strongly advise that you use alternate routes (e.g., I-10 or SR-91), avoid the area, or use public transit. If you must drive in the area, check real-time traffic conditions on the Caltrans QuickMap before you leave so you can avoid congested freeways.

This weekend's 55-hour Summer Slam closure will begin Friday, August 9, at 10 p.m. and end Monday, August 12, at 5 a.m.

A few on-ramps will be closed as well: Hacienda Boulevard, Azusa Avenue, Fullerton Road and south Nogales.

And so will a couple off-ramps: Fullerton Road and Nogales Street.

ALSO, as part of this operation there will be a FULL closure of eastbound SR-60 on Saturday from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and on Monday from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. for installation (Saturday) and removal (Monday) of concrete barriers.

For those of you keeping track, this is Summer Slam, Part III. The fourth and final Summer Slam closure will be August 23 to August 26. Details are on the notice below. Click to enlarge.
