Southbound I-5 Alondra Blvd On-Ramp Closures

Caltrans will intermittently close the southbound Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) on-ramp at Alondra Boulevard in Santa Fe Springs on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, September 30 and continuing through mid-October, 2013.  The work involves structural items for the reconstruction of the Alondra Boulevard Bridge.

Other long-term closures in this area are:
•    Alondra Blvd., between Freeway Dr. and Marquardt Ave., is closed until mid/late 2014;
•    the intersection of Freeway Drive and Alondra Blvd is closed; and
•    the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Alondra Blvd. is permanently closed.

Since August 2, crews have been working seven-days per week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Freeway Dr./Alondra Blvd. work zone area to reconstruct the Alondra Blvd. Bridge, relocate underground utilities, construct retaining walls, pile drive, and construct a new temporary northbound I-5 on-ramp at Freeway Dr.

Local commuters are encouraged to use the marked detours on Valley View Ave., Artesia Blvd., and Carmenita Road. Please consider the closures and detours in your commute and allow extra travel time to arrive at your destination.

The Santa Ana Freeway (I-5) HOV Widening and Alondra Boulevard Bridge Project to construct one carpool and one general purpose lane in each direction and reconstruct the Alondra Blvd. Bridge.  The $110 million project extends from the North Fork Coyote Creek Bridge to Marquardt Ave.  The project will reconstruct overcrossings at Alondra Blvd and North Fork Coyote Creek, and realign and upgrade adjacent frontage roads, including Alondra Blvd. The 57-year-old Alondra Bridge is being  reconstructed and widened from a four-lane to a six-lane bridge, with three lanes in each direction, and will also be longer to accommodate a wider Interstate 5.

The motoring public, residents and businesses are encouraged to sign-up for regular notification on street, lane and ramp closures by calling the toll-free I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects Hotline (855) 454-6335 or visiting www.I-5info.com
