A Brief Look Back at 2013

With 2014 firmly underway, now is a good time to glance back at 2013. Here are just a few Caltrans accomplishments from last year:

> Opening of a 4.4-mile section of carpool lanes on I-10 from I-605 to Puente Avenue in Baldwin Park.

> I-5/SR-2 tanker fire repair, due to wrap up this month.

> Opening of the new San-Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

> An 84 percent pavement health rating in 2013, out of the 50,000 lane miles Caltrans maintains.

> The sale of nearly $22 million worth of excess property originally acquired for transportation projects.

> Record ridership (5.6 million passengers) on three intercity passenger rail lines funded by the state.
